William Shakespeare(1564 - 1616) was born and died at Stratford-upon-Avon. He was a dramatist and poet but spent most of his life as an actor and playwright in London.

He wrote the comedy The Taming of the Shrew in about 1593. It takes place in Italy. Katharina lives in Padua, she has a terrible temper! Her father cannot find a husband for her. Petruchio, from Verona, is interested in her familys money. He courts Katharina, and marries her. He makes her life very difficult, but in the end, he tames her!
